Paper Title Aps Banned Beginning October 1, 2008
As outlined in numerous ADAA publications over the past six months, all title applications must be generated electronically beginning October 1—the traditional blue and white title application will not be accepted by the Alabama Department of Revenue and county officials after that date. “Over the last year, we’ve continued to process both paper and electronic title applications to allow our designated agents—companies who are approved by the ADOR to complete and submit certificate of title applications—a smooth transition in moving from a paper application environment to an electronic one,” Revenue Commissioner Tim Russell said in a recent news release. “We’ve received outstanding support from various organizations and groups including the Automobile Dealers Association of Alabama…,” he said. During the past eighteen months, ADAA has sponsored 56 workshops attended by 2,600 dealership employees from around the state, the association’s most ambitious educational program ever. The Department of Revenue says that the electronic application has significantly reduced title processing turnaround time. The Department processes more than 1.5 million motor vehicle certificates of title annually. Story
